HOT Vinyasa Flow (Mixed Level)

This class is taught by:

Jennifer Gottlick

Jennifer began the practice of yoga as a way to physically challenge herself and to relieve her own stress and anxiety. She developed a deep love of the practice and discovered how beneficial it can be physically, mentally and spirituality. She made the life changing decision to leave her job in the health care industry to focus on deepening her knowledge and sharing the benefits of yoga. She completed her 200 hour RYT through Onyx Yoga Studio. Jennifer developed a knack for the subtlety of anatomy and alignment in the asana. She has the gift of being able to offer her students cues on how to move from the inside and with the breath. She offers options and teaches modifications so every student has something to do. Jennifer has a welcoming and supportive presence. She teaches in a way that has students feeling safe and inspired. Jennifer extends her deepest gratitude to her teacher Shannon Elliott, for her support and encouragement along this journey. She also has gratitude and love for all of her teachers, past, present and future.

Michael Kohan

Michael (Mukunda Chandra das) completed his 300 hour teacher training in 2013 under the guidance of Ragunath das and Sondra Loring. Additionally, in 2015 he will complete a 600 hour Anusara Yoga teacher training lead by Sue Elkind and Naime Jezzeny. His well-rounded asana classes incorporate creative Vinyasa sequencing along with meditation, clear intention, and uplifting music. Michael’s asana classes are infused with devotion and aligned with the spiritual teachings of the Bhagavad Gita and the Yoga Sutras of Master Patanjali. He strives to embody the qualities of yoga - humility, compassion, devotional service and non-violence, and he believes his role is to serve others through the practice of yoga, enabling students to become steadfast in their yoga. He believes that in serving others, we come to realize our true purpose.

Nancy Fischer

Nancy is a warm and supportive teacher that leads from her heart and loves to laugh from down deep in her core. She is passionate about living every day to the fullest. Yoga has taught her the value in being fully present in the moment and appreciating the beauty in all that is around you. She has dedicated over 10 years to practicing yoga and is fully committed to balancing a daily yoga and meditation practice along with her lifelong passion for long distance running. Nancy received her 200 Hour Yoga Alliance teaching certificate from Onyx Yoga Studio. She is grateful to many teachers that have inspired her along this journey and will always be present in her teachings including Shannon Elliott, Yulady Saluti, Annie Isaacson, and Alex Shipman. For these teachers have taught her the value of alignment, spirituality, laughter and the pure joy that comes from paying it forward and watching your student’s succeed. She is grateful to her family for their support along this journey.

Denise Corsini

Denise was introduced to the practice of yoga in 2006 and was fascinated by the unique combination of mental stimulation and physical demand. Compelled to learn more, she began to enhance her knowledge of the postures, philosophies, and meditation which has allowed her to appreciate yoga as a holistic science of healing and happiness. She is enthusiastic about sharing her wide range of knowledge so that her students can learn to approach their lives with a deeper sense of awareness and consciousness. She also strives to help students of all levels find the edge of their practice and then guide them to the next level. She has completed a 200 Hour Hot Hatha Vinyasa Teacher Certification as well as a 100 Hour Therapeutic Certification. Come prepared to breathe, sweat and awaken. Allow this sacred practice to transform your life!

Gabi Percario

A yogini since before she could even say “OM,” Gabi was introduced to yoga and meditation by her grandfather who was a devoted practitioner. Inspired by his way of life, she committed to her own practice in 2003 and has “continually been blown away by the ability that this practice has to give us exactly what we need in each moment, even as that need is constantly changing. Yoga is a perfect method and metaphor for life.” With her soothing voice and encouraging demeanor, her classes will have students of all levels feeling challenged and capable, strong and supple. Her classes are a moving meditation as she links breath with movement and she has a keen awareness of the ability that music has to move practitioners to greater depths. Inspired by her teachers Shannon Elliot and Amy Cronise-Mead, she teaches Vinyasa classes with special attention to alignment as a way to progress rapidly and safely, and to develop integrity and mindfulness. The eternal student, when Gabi is not on the mat, she is most likely to be found at a library or bookstore; she is in the Rutgers Graduate School studying Eastern Religions and Philosophies as well as Sanskrit. She feels "ridiculously lucky" to have the gift of sharing this practice of yoga with other people.

Joshua Ansley

Joshua's yoga is not for the faint of heart. His teaching lies heavily in Vedantic philosophy and is filtered through his background as a classically trained actor in London, a playwright in NY, a filmmaker in Los Angeles, a professional touring rock musician and a teacher training by Eric Paskel of Yoga Shelter in LA and Detroit. That's right...Detroit Rock City. Joshua has been teaching Vinyasa and Yin Yoga in both Spanish and English in Tulum, Mexico at Amansala’s ‘Bikini Boot Camp’, Yoga Shala, Yoga Dicha and Casa Violeta and he has now returned to NY to continue on his own path of teaching and being of service.
Joshua is an urban monk and believes that all suffering is not caused by the world, but rather our relationship to it. Only through brutal honesty and consistency do we retrain the mind to keep us at our edge physically and mentally and thus surpass even our own expectations on our journey to greatness. His blend of poise and grace gleaned from classical text mixed with his Jersey boy sense of humor and musical talents brings a one of a kind power yogic experience to your own journey of transformation. Are you ready?
Vinyasa Flow yoga taught in a heated environment, 100+ degrees 40%+ humidity. HOT Vinyasa classes move through yoga postures and sequences at a rigorous pace. A prior yoga practice and knowledge of basic postures is assumed given the extreme conditions. Come prepared to sweat and move, although traditional yogic chanting, breathwork, philosophy and meditation are often included also. Bring a non skid towel for your mat, hydrate well prior to class and bring water. Also, dry clothes and/or coverup for after class is advisable. We recommend that true beginners should start in Beginner Basics (regular temperature) or Warm Slow Flow before diving into HOT Vinyasa.
